Speech Pathology and Audiology?
I am in the process of changing careers. I have a master's degree in Biology and i want to get into Speech Pathology and Audiology. I have always had an interest in this field, i don't even know why i never took it in the first place.
I am in Southern California and i am looking for a good school to take a master's program in. I am thinking of first taking a masters in Speech and language pathology and then a doctorate in Audiology. For those of you in this field is this a good mix is it worth it in terms of future income, work and demand? My other question is that most of the schools i have looked at in the S.C area offer an M.A instead of an M.S does this matter when i start to work? Other schools offer an M.A in Communicative disorders is this different from Speech pathology? Lastly are there any schools you can reccomend around this area?

If you want to work in both Speech Pathology and Audiology, I would suggest you become a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing. My schooling required classes in both, and I am considered an 'expert' in the schools I visit. I incorporate both into my work, and enjoy it very much! Of course, you could always do what you suggested, but I have yet to meet an SLP that has a lot to do with Audiology, or an Audiologist that also incorporates Speech Pathology. Of course, there might be a general knowledge, but it's usually one or the other.
